Squaring things off

Squaring things off

My goal this year is to really concentrate on creating new work. Early last year I produced a good amount but then significantly tapered off during the summer and end of the year. Ennui? Procrastination? All of the above?

"But no more!" declared the artist with great conviction, again.

In the past I've created work that involved blocking off the canvas using squares or circles, so this year that's pretty much all I'm going to do when it comes to painting on canvas. Perhaps I'll do some more free form work on paper but for now, it's all about squares, circles, and triangles.

I did this piece titled, A pattern will emerge, a couple years ago using squares and blocked patterns and I was diggin' the process along with the idea that each square is its own little piece of art.

Right this very day, I just finished a piece in the new era of squares and such titled, I believe in youI don't know why I titled it that, it just popped into my mind. Sometimes I have an idea about what to call a painting even before I start working on. it, but not this time.

I did struggle a bit with exactly what I wanted to do but eventually it all worked out and now its finished! And there was much rejoicing.
